Mrs. Erin Spinks  Guidance Counselor

Hello and welcome to Kahler Middle School!  My name is Mrs. Spinks and I am the guidance counselor for students with the last name beginning with A-L.  My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and a Master of Science degree with a specialization in school counseling from Purdue University. I have worked at Kahler for 20 years now and love coming to to work with such a dedicated staff. I have a 10 year old son that is going into 5th grade and my husband is a high school English teacher.

As the guidance counselor, I am available to help with academic, social/emotional, and personal concerns.  I have found that I enjoy working with this age group because students are learning, growing, and experiencing so many changes in middle school. I really enjoy my role in encouraging all children to strive for their personal best and be successful.  I’m also available to attend parent-teacher conferences at the request of a parent or teacher.  Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance.  Wishing everyone a great 2017-2018 school year!

Mrs. Carrie Kleckner School Service Provider

My name is Carrie Kleckner and I am the School Service Provider at Kahler Middle School. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University majoring in Psychology and Organizational Leadership and Supervision. I have been working with both general education and special education students at Kahler for the past 5 years. It is my responsibility to provide social, emotional and educational support to all students. I meet with students on a regular basis to discuss grades, develop academic and organizational goals. I facilitate groups focusing on both social and coping skills. I also attend case conferences for students with counseling minutes in their Individualized Education Plans and consult with teachers when students are struggling to develop Behavioral Intervention Plans when needed.

I have enjoyed working with adolescents since college when I volunteered at the Crisis Center in West Lafayette. I currently work at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Dyer in their residential treatment program for the last 13 years.

My goal is to support and help guide students through their exciting and challenging middle school years. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your student.
