Mrs. Erin Spinks  Guidance Counselor

Hello and welcome to Kahler Middle School!  My name is Mrs. Spinks and I am the guidance counselor for students with the last name beginning with A-G.  My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and a Master of Science degree with a specialization in school counseling from Purdue University. I have worked at Kahler for 25 years now and love coming to to work with such a dedicated staff. I have a 14 year old son that is going into 9th grade and my husband is a high school English teacher.

As the guidance counselor, I am available to help with academic, social/emotional, and personal concerns.  I have found that I enjoy working with this age group because students are learning, growing, and experiencing so many changes in middle school. I really enjoy my role in encouraging all children to strive for their personal best and be successful.  I’m also available to attend parent-teacher conferences at the request of a parent or teacher.  Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance.  Wishing everyone a great 2021-2022 school year!

Mrs. Dessie Kammer  Guidance Counselor

Happy school year! My name is Dessie Kammer and I am the school counselor for those students with last names beginning M-Z.  I earned my bachelor’s degree in Dance and Psychology from Barat College, and my Masters in School Counseling and Mental Health from Purdue University.  I have been a school counselor for over 20 years and in the private sector serving NWI.  I love serving the middle school students as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  Having children of my own, I understand the joys and frustrations of the middle school years.

I look forward to working with you and getting to know how I can better serve you.  Please feel free to reach out to me.

Mrs. Carrie Vojvodich School Service Provider

My name is Carrie Vojvodich and I am the School Service Provider at Kahler Middle School. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University majoring in Psychology and Organizational Leadership and Supervision and have many years of experience working with this age group! It’s my responsibility to provide social, emotional and educational support to all students. I meet with students on a regular basis to discuss grades, develop academic and organizational goals and help solve any problems that should come up throughout their middle school career. I facilitate many groups, some with all students in a classroom or pulling kids out into smaller groups, outside the classroom, to focus on teaching a variety of life skills (i.e., social skills, resolving conflict, recognizing strengths and learning coping skills to manage emotions to name a few)! I attend case conferences for students with counseling minutes in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and consult with teachers when students are struggling to develop Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) when needed.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family & friends, especially watching my daughter play goalie on her soccer team and traveling with my husband.

My goal is to support and guide students through these exciting and challenging middle school years. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your student. I’m very much looking forward to working with you & your family!
